Get answers to the the most commonly asked questions.
What subjects do you teach?
English, Maths and Science
What ages do you teach?
Do you tutor exam preparation for selective school entrance?
Yes, but it’s imperative you contact us in advance to give your child the best chance of success, allowing them to prepare.
How do I know if my child is having trouble with their school work and what can I do about it?
Parents’ nights are often the best way to give an indication as to whether your child is struggling in their studies. You can also try communicating with them and finding out what areas of Maths and English they struggle with in their homework.
How do I know that my child will improve?
We guarantee to work with your child until they feel confident to flourish and no longer feel daunted by the prospect of the problematic area. Combined with our tutoring, school work and extra homework from ourselves and school; your child will instantly improve both academically and in self-confidence.
How long will it take to solve my child’s problem?
Every child is different, so it’s important they come in for an In-depth Assessment so we can come up with a plan and targets for them to work towards. There is no contract or obligation to attend for a long period of time, but we’ll regularly provide parental feedback so you know exactly how your child is doing.
Can you tutor my child with a disability?
We’ve taught children with ADHD, Aspergers, Dyslexia, Autism and others in the past. But it’s very important you get in touch and set up an interview and assessment with us, so we can establish whether we can effectively tutor them. We want to offer the best for your child, so this is a very important process, but we’re always willing to go the extra mile regardless of any disabilities. Please call for more details.
Do you tutor from home?
No. All of our tutoring is done in our centre so your child has access to all of our top learning packages and technology in an optimal learning environment, without any distractions.
How long is each lesson?
80 minutes. The lessons are broken up in 20 minute activities so your child never gets bored.
What times are the sessions held?
There is an array of times available, please get in touch to find out more.
Will my child get homework?
Yes. Homework is an essential part of the Leeds Tuition Centre programme, particularly for the reading aspect of tuition. We are aware of other homework from school, so we only set a limit of around half an hours work each week. If you have difficulty getting your child to complete the homework, please speak to us.
How should I help my child during my child’s tuition at Leeds Tuition Centre?
Inform your child’s school teacher they’re attending extra tuition so you can be informed with any improvements and areas which need attention outside of school hours. With homework, ensure you set a distraction free environment for your child to learn in.
How do we accept payments?
Tuition fees are made by monthly Direct Debit. Arrangements can be made for a weekly payment but an additional administration fee will apply. Please do ask at the time of enrolling. Childcare Vouchers and Working Tax Credit is available for those eligible, so again please do make it clear at the enrolment stage of your assessment.

Since my son and daughter have been receiving math and English tuition from Joanna Jacobs and her team, I have seen great progress and improvement from them both in and out of the classroom. I would highly recommend this tuition to other learners as I am very satisfied with my children’s development. Due to the positive feedback I have been given about my son and daughter from their teachers. Both my children have enjoyed their tuition and seem to understand these subjects to a better standard.
